Moss Vale Road Urban Release Area - Water Infrastructure

The Moss Vale Road Urban Release Area (URA) is a regionally significant residential development located between Bomaderry and Cambewarra village.

About the project

The current projected development yield is 3,400 residential lots. In order to supply adequate future servicing to the Urban Release Area (URA), Shoalhaven Water progressed detailed designs for the water and wastewater infrastructure, with construction of the works commenced in 2021.

Progress so far

  • Project approval – 2020
  • Award of design consultants – 2020
  • Stage 1 Water Main Lead-in Works placed in operation December 2021
  • Overall water detailed design completion – 2022
  • Stage 2 Illaroo Road Water Pumping Station Upgrades placed in operation April 2024
  • Stage 4 New 3.5ML Water Reservoir placed in operation July 2024

About the packages of works

Package 1 - Stage 1 water main lead-in work

Package 1 involved the extension of the existing Cambewarra water main network along Main Road and Moss Vale Road, to the Moss Vale Road URA.

Progress so far

  • Package 1 works completed in 2021.

Package 2: Illaroo Road water pumping station upgrade

Package 2 involved the construction of a new upgraded water pumping station.

Progress so far

  • Package 2 works were placed in operation April 2024.
  • A separate landscaping package of works will be undertaken by Council at a later date.

Package 3: Construction of New Rising Mains

Package 3 involves constructing new rising mains to connect the Cambewarra, Badagarang, and Bomaderry water networks.

Progress so far

  • Cambewarra Village: Watermains have been installed along Reservoir Lane, Faulks Place, Main Rd, and Hockeys Lane.
  • Badagarang: Watermains have been installed along Moss Vale Road between Lancaster Drive and Bannada Way. Pressure testing is complete, and the system has been commissioned for use.
  • Hockeys Lane: The cut-over connections at 49 Hockeys Lane to link the new pump station with the newly installed supply main have been completed and are now operational.

Upcoming works

  • Badagarang to Bomaderry: The distribution main between Bannada Way and Bomaderry has been installed. Final commissioning works and reinstatement are scheduled to begin in January

Package 4: New water reservoir

Package 4 involved the construction of a new 3.5ML water reservoir on the existing Cambewarra Reservoir Site at Reservoir Lane.

Progress so far

  • Package 4 works were placed into operation July 2024.
