Change bin size

Follow the steps below to request an increase or decrease of your bin service size.

Important information

  • making a change to a waste or recycling service will result in an increase or decrease to the yearly rate charges for the property - check bin sizes and costs here
  • if you are changing to a larger red bin service there is also an administration fee of $44.00 which we will contact you to pay prior to delivering your new bin

Please note: Changes to waste and recycling services may only be made by the owner, strata manager or managing agent of the property.

Steps to request

Before you start

Step 1.Check if you are eligible

You must be the property owner, strata manager or managing property agent in order to be eligible to complete this request.

If you are not eligible, you will need to request that the property owner, strata manager or managing property agent completes the request instead.

Step 2.Make a note of the bins you currently have

You will need to know the colour, size and total number of bins you currently have at your property.

How to request an upsize

Step 1.Contact the Waste Services team

Call the Waste Services team on 1300 293 111 or complete the form below to notify the team of your request.

Step 2.Arrange for payment with the Waste Services team

If you chose to call Waste Services directly, the team will confirm that you are the property owner and arrange for the payment of the administration fee.

If you completed the form above, the Waste Services team will call you to arrange for payment of the administration fee.

Step 3.Pay the upfront fee

There is an administration fee of $44 payable upfront for all bin upsize service requests. 

What happens next

Step 1.You will receive a confirmation email about your submission

Make sure you check your spam folder if it doesn't appear in your inbox.

Step 2.We will action your request

Once a bin size is chosen, we will arrange for Veolia (Council's contractor) to deliver the bins within five (5) working days. We will contact you via your chosen contact method with important instructions about your bin request (e.g. pickup or delivery day).

If you have chosen to upsize your bin, we will contact you to arrange payment of the administration fee before delivery.

Step 3.We will send you an amended rates notice

After your service request has been completed, the charge will appear on the property rates notice and an amended rates notice will be sent to the property owner with the new rate instalments.
